MICHAEL BATES (CHAIRMAN)
Michael Bates is a highly accomplished veteran of the software industry. His history includes the development of consumer-focused technology with a particular passion for mobile solutions. Michael’s background includes:
- Responsible for iqzone’s overall strategy including product development, financing and partnerships.
- Prior to iqzone, Michael spent a few years focusing on R&D in the biotech industry while working with non-profit organizations on medical research and fundraising.
- In 1999, Michael led the launch of IQorder, the first online shopping portal available via mobile devices. The company was eventually acquired by InfoSpace in 2000 for 58 Million dollars.
- Prior to that, Michael researched and invested in emerging technologies that led to the successful launch of two companies, Software Marketing Corporation and AutoMap, which grew to combined annual sales exceeding $20 million. Software Marketing Corporation was eventually sold to Softkey International (a division of Mattel), and Automap was later sold to Microsoft. Afterwards, Michael accepted a two-year position as a Senior Publisher with Softkey. Prior to that, he joined PC Globe as Vice President of Sales and drove annual revenues to $8 million within the first year. Michael graduated from Arizona State University
Ron Cates is considered as one of the world’s leading experts on email marketing, social media marketing, and digital marketing. Ron is frequently referenced by major publications and has been referred to by Forbes as a “Digital Marketing Icon.” For 17 years, Ron served primarily as a public spokesperson for the email marketing giant Constant Contact, prior to its acquisition in 2015 for $1.1 Billion. At Constant Contact, Ron served as the Director of Digital marketing education and over the course of his time there he spoke to over 200,000 small business owners. Ron also currently serves as a marketing expert on Spike’s TV’s popular TV series Bar Rescue and frequently speaks to business meetings and conferences.
