Meet ACYR CEO Sharlet Barnett

Arizona Center for Youth Resources CEO talks life lessons, working with young people, and how her organization helps strengthen communities.

Sharlet Barnett grew up in San Jose, California but has lived in several states across the western U.S. When she got a job at McDonald’s a few years after her parents got divorced, she quickly realized two things: she wasn’t the only person having difficulty at home, and she had a knack for working with young people. That led her to a degree in psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her path eventually brought her to Arizona and a job at the Arizona Center for Youth Resources where she has been for 23 years.

Check out this video feature to hear more about Barnett’s journey, how she helps strengthen communities and what she thinks is most important for young people to be successful.
