Sharlet Barnett grew up in San Jose, California but has lived in several states across the western U.S. When she got a job at McDonald’s a few years after her parents got divorced, she quickly realized two things: she wasnât the only person having difficulty at home, and she had a knack for working with young people. That led her to a degree in psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her path eventually brought her to Arizona and a job at the Arizona Center for Youth Resources where she has been for 23 years.
