Mercy Care’s Trisha Stuart shares how her compassionate upbringing shaped a career dedicated to building meaningful community partnerships and improving lives across Arizona

PHOENIX (STN) – As director of community relations at Mercy Care, Trisha Stuart has built a career on one unshakable principle: collaboration creates lasting change. A native Arizonan, Stuart grew up watching her Midwestern parents model hard work, kindness, and service.

“They believed in working hard and being kind and putting your family above all else,” she said. “That compassionate upbringing is really what led me to want to do community work so I could use my skill set to help solve some community needs.”

Her professional path reflects that conviction. After early work with Valley of the Sun United Way, Stuart joined The Arizona Republic, later launching her own nonprofit consulting firm before arriving at Mercy Care.

“I had never worked in a health care environment before,” she explained. “It was something that really interested me, especially because of the importance of everyone’s health. I wanted to blend those worlds — community and care.”

At Mercy Care, Stuart oversees community partnerships that connect resources with real needs across Arizona. When choosing collaborators, she looks for alignment and depth. “I’m really looking for people first and foremost that have shared goals or similar philosophies to what we’re trying to achieve,” she said.

“Beyond that, I appreciate when someone takes the time to learn what we’re about. From there, we can move forward and hopefully develop something that’s going to have a longer-lasting impact.”

Her call to action for leaders is simple: take the time upfront to build understanding. “I encourage people to reach out with ideas and start a dialogue. When we plan together, it becomes a win-win for the organization and for Mercy Care.”

Asked what the work means to her personally, Stuart didn’t hesitate. “I feel really blessed to have landed at Mercy Care,” she said. “Every day I get to see the members we touch and the communities we serve. It’s special. Not everyone gets to do that in their daily work.”
