Phoenix (STN) – Artificial intelligence is already changing the way students learn, employees work, and organizations operate. During the May episode of ‘It Happens at STN,’ University of Phoenix leaders discussed how AI is being integrated into education while emphasizing the importance of ethics and human connection.
“AI is here and already around us,” said Marc Booker, vice provost of strategy at the University of Phoenix. “It’s in our phones, our computers, and our workplaces.”
Booker said the university is embedding AI into curriculum, using AI tools to support learning, and developing policies focused on responsible use.
“We have to weave it into our DNA,” he said.
Rather than replacing people, Booker argued AI works best when paired with human oversight.
“AI sings when humans are working with it together,” he said.

Nathan Jones, vice president of product management, said AI is already being used throughout the university in classrooms, student services, and faculty support systems.
The university is also using tools like Skillmore to help employers identify workforce skills and track employee development.
“We have tools that can help employers understand the skills their employees already have,” Jones said.
Both leaders emphasized that preparing students for the future means helping them understand how to use AI effectively and ethically.
“The rate of change is clearly increasing,” Jones said. “Organizations are going to need partners and tools that help employees continuously adapt.”
